Warning: Discussion of sexual abuse and harassment. This weekend, news emerged that Blake Lively is reportedly suing It Ends with Us costar and director Justin Baldoni for alleged sexual harassment. People began comparing the situation with that of Amber Heard — and the actor herself issued a statement. According to the New York Times , Lively claimed that Baldoni and producer Jamey Heath "had repeatedly violated physical boundaries and made sexual and other inappropriate comments to her." The legal complaint subsequently claimed that, fearing public fallout from the allegations, their PR effort created a smear campaign "to harm Ms. Lively’s reputation instead." An attorney for Wayfarer, the company cofounded by Baldoni and Heath, denied Lively's claims and told the NYT that neither the studio, its executives, nor its PR representatives did anything "proactive nor retaliated” against her. In August, speculation was already rife that there had been some kind of on-set rift. Amid this, Baldoni hired crisis public relations expert Melissa Nathan, who was already famed for working with Johnny Depp during his defamation trial with Heard. According to texts seen by the NYT, Nathan texted a publicist working with Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios, "You know we can bury anyone." Baldoni's lawyer Bryan Freedman alleged to the NYT that Lively planted “negative and completely fabricated and false stories with media” against him, sparking the decision to hire a crisis PR expert. Let's take a moment to remember Depp v. Heard . In 2020, Depp lost his UK defamation trial against the Sun in which the tabloid called him "a wife beater." The judge said that the words were "substantially true," noting, "I have found that the great majority of alleged assaults of Ms Heard by Mr Depp have been proved to the civil standard." Notably, things fared differently in the US trial, which was in front of a jury. As international media lawyer Mark Stephens told the BBC , "Amber Heard has comprehensively lost in the court of public opinion and in front of the jury." Some experts estimated that more than half of the negative tweets about Heard were from "inauthentic accounts," including bots and trolls. As the Independent put it, "The truly shocking revelation...is just how vast and complex the disinformation movement against Heard was. This was not one single campaign, but multiple, hybrid attacks." Perhaps it's no surprise then that Amber herself issued a statement on the It Ends with Us allegations: "Social media is the absolute personification of the classic saying ‘A lie travels halfway around the world before truth can get its boots on.' I saw this firsthand and up close. It’s as horrifying as it is destructive.” Blake Lively, Amber Heard, Megan Thee Stallion , it goes on. How many more women would you like to keep adding? NASA's Parker Solar Probe is preparing for its long-anticipated record-setting approach to the surface of the sun. Hurtling around the sun at approximately 430,000 mph, the uncrewed vehicle is expected on Christmas Eve to come within 3.8 million miles of the sun. If it succeeds, the approach will bring the probe seven times closer to the fiery star's surface than any other spacecraft before it, NASA said in a news release . It's a historic milestone that NASA has been building toward ever since the Parker Solar Probe embarked in 2018 on a mission to study the sun's outer atmosphere . While the spacecraft is due to make two more flybys of the sun in 2025, its approach on Tuesday would be its closest of all its 24 scheduled orbits. "No human-made object has ever passed this close to a star," said Nick Pinkine, Parker Solar Probe mission operations manager, in a statement. "Parker will truly be returning data from uncharted territory." A year of stargazing: 4 events that dazzled skygazers in 2024, from total solar eclipse to northern lights Parker Solar Probe to make closest approach to sun Parker sent a transmission last week revealing to mission operations that the spacecraft is operating as expected and is prepared to make its historic approach. That orbit is expected to happen around 7 a.m. EST Tuesday as the probe whizzes at speeds fast enough to get from Philadelphia to Washington, D.C., in one second, according to NASA. At that time, mission operators at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Maryland will temporarily lost contact with the spacecraft. Parker will transmit another beacon Friday to confirm its health following the close flyby, NASA said. "This is one example of NASA's bold missions, doing something that no one else has ever done before to answer longstanding questions about our universe," said Arik Posner, Parker Solar Probe program scientist at NASA's Washington headquarters. "We can't wait to receive that first status update from the spacecraft and start receiving the science data in the coming weeks." What is the Parker Solar Probe? The Parker Solar Probe was launched Aug. 12, 2018 with the mission of coming within 4 million miles of the sun's surface to study the formation of the solar wind. The spacecraft is designed to endure temperatures of up to 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit as it flies through the sun's elusive outermost layer, known as the corona. Nearly 10 feet tall and powered by a pair of solar arrays, the spacecraft and instruments are protected from the sun's heat by a 4.5-inch-thick carbon-composite shield. During the course of 24 solar orbits, each of which lasts 88 days, Parker is providing data that could help scientists to forecast space-weather events that reach Earth. The mission couldn't come at a more critical time as the sun has reached the height of its 11-year-cycle, known as the solar maximum . During this period, the sun can unleash devastating space weather that, while a boon to aurora chasers who want to witness some northern lights , can also disrupt some Earth technology. Parker's final two close approaches will be March 22 and June 19, 2025. The craft is named for Dr. Eugene Parker, who in the 1950s proposed a number of concepts about how stars, including the sun, give off energy. Parker, the first living person to have a spacecraft named after him, died at age 94 in March 2022, according to NASA. Parker Solar Probe makes previous milestones Within two months of launching, the Parker Solar Probe in October 2018 moved within 26.55 million miles of the sun's surface, breaking the previous mark set by the Helios-2 spaecraft in 1976. In 2021, the probe followed that up by becoming the first spacecraft to fly through the corona – sampling particles and magnetic fields there. On Sept. 27, 2023, the probe set dual records: making the closest approach of any vehicle to the sun, coming within 4.5 million miles of it; and reaching the fastest speed of any spacecraft traveling relative to the sun, traveling at 394,736 miles per hour, according to NASA. A movement in a myriad of rural counties across deep blue states such as Illinois and California to split off and form new states appears to be gaining some steam in the wake of the Nov. 5 election . Conservative residents of the rural regions are taking note of their peers fleeing to lower-taxed and less-regulated red states but they are ready to stay put — pining for a divorce with the urban sectors of their state. A group dubbed the New Illinois State has drafted a new constitution and championed plans to “Leave Illinois Without Moving.” On Election Day, seven rural counties in Illinois voted to contemplate splitting off from the state. “There’s a lot of people in Chicago, and I think that they make a lot of decisions that affect people downstate,” Phil Gioja, from Iroquois County, told the Wall Street Journal . “It’s just sending a message that, ‘Hey, you know, there’s people that would like to be part of the conversation, and often aren’t.’” In Iroquois County, about 73% of voters backed the idea of banding together with other counties in Illinois, except Cook County, which encompasses Chicago and forming a new state. Chicago is home to about 40% of Illinois’ population. While Gioja doesn’t anticipate a separation soon, some backers of a rural divorce think that an opening will come. “We always believed that our best opportunity to negotiate our way out of Illinois was when Illinois was approaching that financial cliff — it’s been on a path toward it for years,” G.H. Merritt, who chairs New Illinois State told the outlet. Out in California, a similar movement has taken root as well. The New California State organization hopes to splinter off the counties outside the Bay Area, Sacramento and Los Angeles. “I’m so flipping excited,” Paul Preston, who founded New California State, told the Wall Street Journal. Preston bashed the Golden State to the outlet as a “one-party communist state, and technically, they have seceded from the Union already.” But his and other like-minded movements face an uphill battle. To win statehood, they would need the green light from state legislatures — difficult to lock down from the states where they’d like to splinter off. Hawaii was the last state formally added to the US. There have been efforts by Puerto Rico and Washington DC to attain statehood, but none of them have garnered much steam. Following the Nov. 5 election, California Gov. Gavin Newsom has visited red counties and told voters: “Message received.” “I don’t care who you voted for. I care about Trump supporters, I care about Robert Kennedy Jr supporters, I care about Tucker Carlson supporters, I care about Charlie Kirk supporters, I care about Ben Shapiro supporters, I care about all people,” Newsom said during one of his stops. Out in Oregon, the Greater Idaho movement is hoping to reconfigure state lines so that rural counties past the Cascade mountain range can join their conservative-run neighbor Idaho. “The State of Oregon has said we’re not going to talk about it and are basically holding people in Eastern Oregon captive against our wishes,” Matt McCaw, executive director of Greater Idaho, told the outlet. A similar movement had taken place in three Maryland counties — Garrett, Allegany and Washington — which asked to join West Virginia and got support from Gov. Jim Justice (R) back in 2021. None of those counties have moved over. The urban-rural divide has long had ripple effects in domestic politics. President-elect Donald Trump enjoyed a major advantage over Vice President Kamala Harris in rural areas. Trump, 78, also managed to chip away at the Democrats’ long-held grip on urban centers, dramatically reducing the margins in traditionally blue states relative to the 2020 election. Throughout his campaign, the 45th and soon-to-be 47th president assailed liberal-run cities, claiming that they were overtaxed, rife with crime and falling apart. From Maui to the Caribbean, Thanksgiving tournaments a beloved part of college basketball

KALISPELL — Flathead High School announced Monday morning that it will begin the hiring process for a new head football coach in January, marking the fourth time the school will have sought to hire a new head coach since early 2019. In a press release, assistant principal and activities director Matt Allison wrote that the school thanked former head coach Caleb Aaland “for his dedication and leadership during his three years as the head coach of the Braves Football program, as the school has decided to go in a different direction.” Aaland, who is originally from Panama City, Fla., and spent several years on the coaching staff at Troy University in Alabama, before moving to work at Glacier National Park. He spent one year at Flathead High as the football team’s quarterbacks coach, before taking over as head coach in 2022. Aaland told the My Panhandle news outlet in 2022 that he took over a team that had not won a game since 2019. The team’s first game under Aaland was a 27-0 win against Billings Skyview, but Flathead went on to lose the rest of its games that season. The 2023 season brought a marginal improvement in the win-loss column with a 2-7 record. In 2024, the team went 0-9, including three one-score losses, bringing Aaland’s record as the team’s head coach to 3-24. The Flathead football program is now six years removed from a 2018 appearance in the AA state championship game, when the Braves fell to Billings West 20-14 and finished the season 9-4. It was the team’s first appearance in the state title game since 2000. Kyle Samson, the head coach for the 2000 team, left before the next season to take a job as the quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator at NAIA football program Montana Tech, where he is now the head coach. During five years as the head coach for Flathead, Samson’s teams went 27-27. Samson was replaced by Matt Upham, who went 2-15 across two seasons, including a shortened seven-game 2020 season, before resigning. He was replaced by Alex Cummings, who went 0-9 during the 2021 season before resigning to become the assistant principal at Kalispell Middle School. In his statement about the coaching change and subsequent search, Allison wrote that they are looking to hire someone who can “build on the solid foundation that we currently have — talented assistant coaches and next year’s returning players.” Get in the game with our Prep Sports Newsletter Sent weekly directly to your inbox!

Erden Arkan, a co-owner of the luxury construction firm KSK, has been accused of collaborating with a Turkish government official to funnel illegal campaign contributions to Adams. Why It Matters Arkan's guilty plea would mark the first in a case that has drawn significant attention to the mayor's fundraising practices and political alliances. Adams, a Democrat, is facing a federal investigation over alleged fraud and corruption, including claims of accepting luxury travel benefits worth more than $100,000 and illegal campaign donations from foreign nationals. He has pleaded not guilty. Multiple members of his administration are also being probed. What To Know According to court filings, Arkan plans to admit to charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud by collecting campaign contributions for Adams that were made under the name of someone other than the true contributor. Prosecutors say Adams improperly used these funds to qualify for public matching funds, a program designed to amplify small-dollar contributions Adams has maintained his innocence, pledging to "fight the charges with every ounce of my strength." Arkan's firm's ties to Adams emerged in November 2023 as investigators searched his residence, along with the home of Adams' chief fundraiser and his liaison to the Turkish community. The indictment against Adams details a 2021 dinner where he allegedly solicited illegal contributions directly from Arkan, referred to in court documents as "Businessman-5." Soon after, Arkan hosted a fundraiser for Adams at KSK's Brooklyn headquarters. Prosecutors allege that Arkan reimbursed employees who donated between $1,200 and $1,500 to the campaign, a practice that constitutes illegal straw donations. Arkan later confirmed to the FBI that he had spoken to the Turkish official about the fundraiser. He initially denied reimbursing his employees, prosecutors said. Court documents also highlight Arkan's reluctance about the scheme, citing comments he made to others in New York's Turkish community that it "may feel like swimming against the current but unfortunately this is how things work in this country," according to the indictment. What People Are Saying An attorney for Adams, Alex Spiro, said in an emailed statement to The Associated Press (AP) that the decision would have "no bearing on the Mayor's case whatsoever." "We know from the government's own interviews that Mr. Arkan repeatedly said that Mayor Adams had no knowledge of his actions," Spiro said. According to the AP, a lawyer for Arkan did not immediately respond to the new agency's request for comment A Mounting Scandal For Adams While Adams has pleaded not guilty to all charges, the case has compounded an already difficult period for his administration. High-profile resignations, including those of his police commissioner and multiple deputy mayors, have been accompanied by separate corruption probes. Most recently, Ingrid Lewis-Martin, Adams' former top adviser, was charged with accepting bribes to expedite real estate approvals. What Happens Next As Adams prepares for his trial in April, the plea agreement from Arkan is expected to play a role in the broader investigation into the mayor's alleged conduct. One sleep after Christmas comes the year’s ultimate shopping event – the boxing day sales. Often the busiest shopping day in the year, it can be a stressful experience in Northern Melbourne. Whether you’re a seasoned shopper, or this will be your first Boxing Day sales experience, here are some tips to help you get through the day. 1. Do a clean out Before anything, go through your wardrobes, cupboards and drawers. Pick out anything you no longer use or wear, anything broken or faulty and get rid of them. Make sure to donate what you can and dispose properly of everything else. Your council will have information on how to dispose of certain items correctly, like electronics. 2. Write a list Once you’ve had a clean out, sit down and really think about what you need and what you want. While the sales are a great way to get those nice headphones you’ve had your eye on for a while, it’s also the best way to stock up on things for the year or to replace those things you need to. Write two separate lists under the two categories (and any other categories like future gifts or anything you’re picking up for someone else). Then, figure out which shop you will buy those items from. You can get creative and use highlighters or coloured pens to categorise. This way, you can narrow down what you will get from each store and try your best to stick to the lists. 3. Utilise the store’s maps Go to the website of the shopping centre or mall you plan to visit and find the map. Look up where each store is you plan to go to (even if you think you know where it is, shops have changed over the pandemic and could have moved!). Then write a plan for which shops you will go to first and create a path, so you don’t have to keep going from one end of the centre to the other. The best way to is to start with shops where you will be getting smaller, easy to carry items. Leave anything heavy or bulky for last. 4. Get there early or have someone drop you off You say you will every year, but each time you wake up still in a food coma (or hangover) and bed is impossible to leave. You regret it every time as you circle the parking lot for hours. Well, not this year! Set your alarm earlier than usual and plan ahead what you’ll have to munch on for brekky the night before. Heck, even lay out your outfit Christmas night (comfy, easy to change out of and lightweight!). Once there, just find a park and stick to it. Unless you have a pram or can utilise the disabled parking, don’t bank on getting a park close to the entrance. Alternatively, ask one of your amazing family members or friends to drop you off. When you’ve finished with each round (more on this next), call that amazing person to come and pick up your bags. 5. Have multiple ‘rounds’ This will help keep you on-track and energised for the day. As mentioned before, start off with lighter shopping, like clothes, accessories, shoes and smaller tech items. Then, when it’s about time for a coffee and a treat, take your bags to your car, and find a cafe to take a well earned rest. Look over your lists and check you’re on track. Then, go for round 2 and repeat the process but use the break for some lunch (it might be a good idea to book ahead in case you can’t get a table). After lunch should be about time for the bulkier items, like bedding, large tech things, kitchenware, furniture etc. And repeat until you’re done! 6. Keep hydrated and be prepared Take a bag you can carry a few things in, like a backpack or across the shoulder tote. Keep a water bottle that you can refill in the centre, some snacks, hand sanitiser, a spare mask, tissues and a pair of socks in case you decide to try on a pair of sneakers. 7. Have fun! Boxing Day shopping can be really stressful – try to have fun with it and go with friends or family who you know you’ll have fun with. If it gets too much, just leave! There will be plenty more sales after the day.Community housing group in Southgate talks in regional forum
By ZEKE MILLER, Associated Press WASHINGTON (AP) — President-elect Donald Trump on Tuesday reached a required agreement with President Joe Biden’s White House to allow his transition staff to coordinate with the existing federal workforce before taking office on Jan. 20. The congressionally mandated agreement allows transition aides to work with federal agencies and access non-public information and gives a green light to government workers to talk to the transition team. But Trump has declined to sign a separate agreement with the General Services Administration that would have given his team access to secure government offices and email accounts, in part because it would require that the president-elect limit contributions to $5,000 and reveal who is donating to his transition effort. The White House agreement was supposed to have been signed by Oct. 1, according to the Presidential Transition Act, and the Biden White House had issued both public and private appeals for Trump’s team to sign on. The agreement is a critical step in ensuring an orderly transfer of power at noon on Inauguration Day, and lays the groundwork for the White House and government agencies to begin to share details on ongoing programs, operations and threats. It limits the risk that the Trump team could find itself taking control of the massive federal government without briefings and documents from the outgoing administration. As part of the agreement with the White House, Trump’s team will have to publicly disclose its ethics plan for the transition operation and make a commitment to uphold it, the White House said. Transition aides must sign statements that they have no financial positions that could pose a conflict of interest before they receive access to non-public federal information. Biden himself raised the agreement with Trump when they met in the Oval Office on Nov. 13, according to the White House, and Trump indicated that his team was working to get it signed. Trump chief of staff-designate Susie Wiles met with Biden’s chief of staff Jeff Zients at the White House on Nov. 19 and other senior officials in part to discuss remaining holdups, while lawyers for the two sides have spoken more than a half-dozen times in recent days to finalize the agreement. “Like President Biden said to the American people from the Rose Garden and directly to President-elect Trump, he is committed to an orderly transition,” said White House spokesperson Saloni Sharma. “President-elect Trump and his team will be in seat on January 20 at 12 pm – and they will immediately be responsible for a range of domestic and global challenges, foreseen and unforeseen. A smooth transition is critical to the safety and security of the American people who are counting on their leaders to be responsible and prepared.” Without the signed agreement, Biden administration officials were restricted in what they could share with the incoming team. Trump national security adviser-designate Rep. Mike Waltz met recently with Biden national security adviser Jake Sullivan, but the outgoing team was limited in what it could discuss. “We are doing everything that we can to effect a professional and an orderly transition,” White House national security spokesman John Kirby told reporters on Monday. “And we continue to urge the incoming team to take the steps that are necessary to be able to facilitate that on their end as well.” “This engagement allows our intended Cabinet nominees to begin critical preparations, including the deployment of landing teams to every department and agency, and complete the orderly transition of power,” said Wiles in a statement. The Trump transition team says it would disclose its donors to the public and would not take foreign donations. A separate agreement with the Department of Justice to coordinate background checks for vetting and security clearances is still being actively worked on and could be signed quickly now that the White House agreement is signed. The agency has teams of investigators standing by to process clearances for Trump aides and advisers once that document is signed. That would clear the way for transition aides and future administration appointees and nominees to begin accessing classified information before Trump takes office. Some Trump aides may hold active clearances from his first term in office or other government roles, but others will need new clearances to access classified data. Trump’s team on Friday formally told the GSA that they would not utilize the government office space blocks from the White House reserved for their use, or government email accounts, phones and computers during the transition. The White House said it does not agree with Trump’s decision to forgo support from the GSA, but is working on alternate ways to get Trump appointees the information they need without jeopardizing national security. Federal agencies are receiving guidance on Tuesday on how to share sensitive information with the Trump team without jeopardizing national security or non-public information. For instance, agencies may require in-person meetings and document reviews since the Trump team has declined to shift to using secure phones and computers. For unclassified information, agencies may ask Trump transition staff to attest that they are taking basic safeguards, like using two-factor authentication on their accounts.Sean "Diddy" Combs will remain in custody for at least several more days as a judge considers his bid to be released on $50-million bail from the Brooklyn jail where the music mogul has been held for 10 weeks. After a nearly two-hour hearing in Manhattan federal court, U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian said on Friday he would rule on Combs' bid for home detention "promptly." Combs' lawyers this month proposed a bail package backed by his $48-million Florida mansion. It also called for Combs to be monitored around the clock by security personnel and to have no contact with alleged victims or witnesses. Combs has been denied bail three times since his arrest, with multiple judges citing a risk he might tamper with witnesses. The rapper and producer pleaded not guilty on Sept. 17 to charges he used his business empire, including his record label Bad Boy Entertainment, to sexually abuse women. During the hearing, defense lawyer Marc Agnifilo disputed prosecutors' contention that a 2016 hotel surveillance video of Combs assaulting former girlfriend Casandra Ventura, known as Cassie, showed there was a risk he would act violently if released. "There's a zero percent chance of that happening," Agnifilo said. Combs apologized in May after CNN broadcast the video showing him kicking, shoving and dragging Cassie in a hotel hallway. Agnifilo said he had never denied the incident, but said the video was not evidence of sex trafficking. "It's our defense to these charges that this was a toxic, loving 11-year relationship," Agnifilo told the court. Earlier, prosecutor Christine Slavik said Combs tried to bribe hotel staff to delete the surveillance footage -- demonstrating he was committed to concealing his crimes by illegal means. Even from behind bars at the Metropolitan Detention Center, Combs had communicated with his lawyers through unauthorized channels, and sought to run a social-media campaign to sway potential jurors, Slavik said. "The defendant here has demonstrated that either he cannot or will not follow rules," Slavik said. "The defendant, simply put, cannot be trusted." Regarding Combs' attempted social-media campaign, defense lawyer Alexandra Shapiro said he had a right to respond to news coverage of the case that could paint him unfavorably for potential jurors. Upon being led into the hearing by the U.S. Marshals service, Combs, wearing a beige jail-issued outfit, blew kisses toward his family seated in the second row of the courtroom's audience. Prosecutors said the abuse included having women take part in recorded sexual performances called "freak offs" with male sex workers who were sometimes transported across state lines. Combs, 55, has denied wrongdoing, and his lawyers have argued the sexual activity described by prosecutors was consensual. Combs' lawyers questioned why jail was needed when federal prosecutors in Brooklyn last month allowed the pre-trial release on a $10-million bond of former Abercrombie and Fitch CEO Mike Jeffries, who has pleaded not guilty to sex-trafficking. The U.S. Attorney's office in Manhattan, which brought the charges against Combs, countered that Jeffries is 80 years old with no criminal history, whereas Combs has prior arrests. They also said federal agents recovered rifles with defaced serial numbers from Combs' residences. This week, Subramanian ordered prosecutors to destroy their copies of handwritten notes that Combs took in jail, pending a decision on whether they were subject to attorney-client privilege. A government investigator photographed the notes during a sweep of the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, where Combs has been jailed.Presentation Includes Discussion of Monetization of NurseMagicTM DETROIT, Dec. 23, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Amesite Inc. Equal treatment considerations – Subsequent Offering The Private Placement entails a deviation from the shareholders’ pre-emptive rights pursuant to Sections 10-4 and 10-5 of the Norwegian Public Limited Companies Act. The Board has diligently considered the deviation from the shareholders’ pre-emptive rights to be in the best interest of the Company and its shareholders. Moreover, the Private Placement has been considered by the Board in light of the equal treatment obligations under the Norwegian Securities Trading Act section 5-14, section 2.1 of the Oslo Rule Book II, and Oslo Børs’ Circular no. 2/2014, and the Board is of the opinion that it is in compliance with these requirements and guidelines. In reaching these conclusions, the Board emphasized that the Private Placement enables the Company to efficiently raise new equity, and thereby improve the liquidity situation of the Company. Furthermore, the New Shares are issued above the volume-weighted average price (VWAP) of the Company’s shares the last 30 trading days prior to this date, and therefore, based on the current market price, the Private Placement does not result in financial dilution for the Company’s existing shareholders. Alternative structures to the Private Placement have been considered. To facilitate equal treatment, including to limit the dilutive effect of the Private Placement and provide shareholders who did not participate in the Private Placement the opportunity to subscribe for shares at the same price, the Board proposes that a subsequent offering (the “ “) is carried out by the issuance of up to 6,350,000 new shares, at the Subscription Price, which equals up to NOK 34.925 million in gross proceeds, directed at shareholders of the Company as per 20 December 2024 (as registered with the VPS two trading days thereafter) (except for Andritz and MHI) who are not resident in a jurisdiction where such offering would be unlawful or would (in jurisdictions other than Norway) require any prospectus, filing, registration or similar action (the “ “). The subscription period for the Subsequent Offering will commence following the approval and publication of an offering prospectus, expected during Q1 2025. The Subsequent Offering is subject to, inter alia, completion of the Private Placement, relevant corporate resolutions (including necessary resolutions by an extraordinary general meeting of the Company), prevailing market price and traded volume of the Company’s shares, and approval of an offering prospectus. Further information on any Subsequent Offering will be provided in a separate stock exchange release. The Board reserves the right in its sole discretion to not conduct or to cancel the Subsequent Offering. The Board also notes that the LONGi Investment, if and when completed, will entail a deviation from the shareholders’ pre-emptive rights pursuant to Sections 10-4 and 10-5 of the Norwegian Public Limited Companies Act. The Board will therefore consider applicable equal treatment obligations in relation the LONGi Investment following fulfilment of the conditions for consummation of the LONGi Investment, taking into account the prevailing market price and trading volumes of the Company’s shares at such points in time. the latest news shaping the hydrogen market at Hydrogen Economy – HydrogenPro ASA – Secures NOK 70 million from existing investors and conditionally NOK 70 million from new strategic partner, OECD – Leveraging De-Risking Instruments and International Co-ordination to Catalyse Investment in Clean Hydrogen To put the global economy in a trajectory aligned with the Paris Agreement, more investments in... Philadelphia news 24/7: Watch NBC10 free wherever you are Rates to come down "gradually" U.S. Federal Reserve officials anticipate lowering interest rates "gradually" to "a more neutral stance," minutes of the Fed's November meeting showed. That's contingent on inflation continuing to "move down sustainably to 2 percent and the economy remaining near maximum employment" in line with Fed officials' expectations. Markets move past tariff threats Markets in the U.S. moved past President-elect Donald Trump's threat of more tariffs to scale new highs on Tuesday . The S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at record highs. Europe's Stoxx 600 fell 0.57%, weighed down by auto stocks, which dropped 1.7% on news of the tariffs. Daimler Truck slumped 6%. Tariffs put the brakes on automakers Shares of General Motors and Stellantis slumped following Trump's announcement on Tuesday of a 25% tariff on goods imported from Canada and Mexico into the U.S. Goldman Sachs estimates those tariffs, in addition to the 10% on goods from China also proposed by Trump, will raise a measure of core inflation by nearly 1%. Ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah A permanent ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon's Hezbollah is scheduled to begin Wednesday, announced U.S. President Joe Biden. The deal, which was brokered by France and the U.S., aims to complete the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanon over the next 60 days. Israel and Hezbollah have been engaged in a protracted conflict . [PRO] Data might show annual inflation ticking up The personal consumption expenditures price index is the Fed's preferred measure of inflation. The index for October will be released on Wednesday – and economists are expecting the headline number to tick up on an annual basis. Even before Trump enters the White House, investors are already living in his world. That portends the influence Trump, as president, will have on the economy and markets. Upon Trump's election win, the so-called "Trump trade" has flourished , with risk assets in general on an upward trajectory. The market rally stalled for a while as investors digested the possible increase in inflation and drop in economic growth due to Trump's policies, but was jolted back to life after Trump picked Scott Bessent as his Treasury secretary. Most recently, Trump announced he would raise tariffs by an additional 10% on Chinese goods entering the U.S., and new tariffs of 25% on those from Mexico and Canada. Those three countries alone account for 43% of U.S. goods imports, wrote Goldman Sachs's chief economist Jan Hatzius. "The truth is that the drag from tariffs on growth is likely to outweigh tax cuts on the forecast horizon," said Gregory Daco, chief economist at EY-Parthenon. Automakers felt that sting most keenly because virtually all with a presence in the U.S. manufacture vehicles and parts in Mexico — 26% of auto imports into the U.S. are from Mexico, reported UBS. Shares of automakers GM , Stellantis and Ford Motor fell on reports of Trump's planned tariffs. That said, while individual stocks staggered, the broader market advanced. The S&P 500 rose 0.57% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.28%, with both indexes hitting fresh closing highs. The Nasdaq Composite climbed 0.63%. "Markets have become a lot more comfortable with the prospects of these tariffs being more bluster and more negotiating tactics than actual implementation," Jamie Cox, managing partner at Harris Financial, said. Posturing or not, it's likely Trump's proposed policies will sway the markets in the foreseeable future. — CNBC's Sarah Min, Alex Harring and Samantha Subin contributed to this report.
